AUGUSTA - It was another record breaking year for the Maine Lottery.

Topping last year's numbers, the lottery again set records for sales, prize money, commissions to retailers and for the amount going into Maine's general fund.

Total lottery sales for the fiscal year 2019 that ended on June 30th were nearly 300-million dollars.

Players took home almost 197-million dollars in winnings before taxes, and retailers were paid close to 20-million dollars.

Maine's general fund benefited by the record year in the sum of over 62-million dollars, which supports important programs in the state.
