New York City man charged after Verona Island drug bust

Written by

VERONA ISLAND - Police and drug agents seized more than $10,000 worth of suspected heroin in a bust on Verona Island Monday.

Kayson Harvey, 22, of New York City was arrested for heroin trafficking following a joint investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Bucksport Police and Maine Drug Agents.

Authorities say they received tips about drug sales at a Verona Island residence, which led to a vehicle stop on West Side Drive.

According to police, agents seized more than 40 grams of suspected heroin in bulk form, smaller bags of suspected heroin meant for distribution, and about $3,400 in suspected drug proceeds.

Harvey was taken to the Hancock County Jail and is being held without bail.

Police say more arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
