Astronomy center marking moon landing's 50th anniversary

Written by

ORONO - The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing is on Saturday and many are celebrating, including the Emera Astronomy Center at 167 Rangeley Road.

On Friday night, the center is hosting "Dawn of the Space Age."

"That is a planetarium program that looks at the history of space flight, from Sputnik through modern exploration. It includes a special piece about the landing on the moon," said Director Shawn Laattsch.

The show begins at 7 p.m.

The center also will present a kids moon exploration event on Sunday.

Tickets can be bought both in advance or at the door for Friday's and Sundays' events.
