Guilty verdict in trial of Lewiston man

Written by

AUBURN (WGME) - Albert Flick, who was accused of killing Kimberly Dobbie in Lewiston last year, was found guilty of murder on Wednesday.

A friend of Dobbie's who testified in the trial said he was glad Flick won't be a danger to anyone else but that it does not change the fact that he misses Dobbie.

"I was going to ask Kimberly to marry me this year but I can't because she's now deceased," James Lipps said.

The prosecution presented surveillance video both of the actual stabbing in Lewiston and Flick purchasing two knives two days before the attack.

Assistant District Attorney Bud Ellis told the jury in closing arguments that the video evidence, combined with testimony from multiple witnesses that flick followed Dobbie on a regular basis, meant the murder was planned.

"His obsession had changed. It was a deadly obsession because it resulted in her murder. The obsession became 'If I can't have her, I will kill her.' And that's exactly what he did. It was thought out, it was deliberate, it was premeditated," Ellis said.

The prosecutor said the evidence was irrefutable.

"It was pretty crystal clear what Mr. Flick did so we are very gratified with the outcome. We know the family is pleased with the outcome," he said.

Flick was in prison before, serving 21 years of a 30-year sentence for fatally stabbing his wife in front of their child. He'll be back in court for sentencing for this murder conviction on Aug. 9.
