Alzheimer's Association holds Longest Day fundraiser

Written by

BANGOR - Members of the Alzheimer's Association hosted their Longest Day fundraiser at Dysart's on Sunday near the summer solstice.

Ten percent of the proceeds from meals sold Sunday night went to care support and research that is being done in Maine to fight the disease.

The fundraiser has been happening since 2015 and gears up for the Walk to End Alzheimer's at Bangor Waterfront in October.

"The people that are coming out tonight are literally my heroes. My grandmother has this disease right now and my mom is taking care of her and my great-grandmother had it before her," said Alzheimer's Association Community Events Manager Katie Luce.

Dysart's was selling its Purpleberry Pies in honor of the cause.
