The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation gave them a check for $25,000. The money will go toward the society's "Building for Tomorrow, Creating Bonds for Life" campaign.
Those funds are paying for renovations of the facility.
"It will help expand our parking lot. It will move our entrance so it's more accessible to our public. It will also bring our animals to the front of the building instead of the back so when you walk in the front door you will be able to see the animals that are available for adoption in a friendly, clean, new environment," said Executive Director Suzan Prendergast.
The Bangor Humane Society has set a $1.7 million goal for the campaign.
Officials said they hope Thursday's gift will inspire others in the community to give. To find out more, visit the capital campaign page on the society's website. you can visit b-h-s-building- for- tomorrow-dot- org
