Serving up delicious Gifford's ice cream, the shop started welcoming people on Saturday.
Owner Scott cray said being family owned makes them unlike many others.
"My wife and I came to Hermon about three years ago. It's a fast and upcoming town. We've been trying to do something we could do to be part of the community, get to know people and support it. I got to talking to a few people and they're always talking about how we need an ice cream place."
At the end of the month, the Maine Scoop will be opening up a drive through.
The shop is open from noon to 8 p.m. daily.
