Local Girl Scouts help make special blankets in Bangor

BANGOR - It was a lesson on the importance of volunteerism some local Girl Scouts will never forget.

Members of a troop in Brewer teamed up with residents of the Country Inn Retirement Villa in Bangor.

They've spent the last 3 weeks making "tie blankets" that will be donated to a non profit called "Wings for Children and Families." It assists children and adults with various disabilities.

The scouts said they had a great time working with their new friends on a project that will bring comfort this winter.

Scout Isabelle long said "To make Christmas presents for them to hold onto." While fellow scout Delaney McDonough added "And for them to keep warm and have good feelings."

Anne Flanagan who helped make blankets, said "It's been wonderful to meet these young people. They're just super little girls and they've entertained us and i hope we were able to help them."

The Volunteers of America also helped lead the project.

Today was a day to celebrate their work and to show off the beautiful blankets.
