Holiday travel up despite rising gas prices

STATEWIDE - Mainer's will be paying more this year as they head out for the Thanksgiving holiday.

In fact, the price for regular gasoline is more than 40 cents higher per gallon.

According to gasbuddy.com, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.55.

You can find better prices if you shop around. We found it as low as $2.39 a gallon in Pittsfield and around $2.50 a gallon here in Bangor.

The national average went up 8.9 cents in the last week.

The good news is the prices are expected to fall as more refineries continue to get back online following hurricanes Irma and Harvey.
