Massimo Ranni said he and his wife needed a break and that's why they spent some time relaxing and regrouping at their home in California.
But he said he's been busy trying out new recipes and now can't wait to get back to doing what he loves.
The reaction from locals has been great.
Ranni said "The response is overwhelming. I didn't expect those people to actually miss me and I love it. It gives me more enthusiasm to start all over again. I was already excited about it, but now I'm really driven, so I'm excited."
Massimo said the restaurant will offer some favorite dishes along with new offerings including gluten free pasta.
He and the staff are now busy getting the restaurant ready to reopen.
